Distance:

The trip to Kedarnath covers a total distance of 16 kilometres, beginning in Gaurikund and ending in Kedarnath Dham. Since the abrupt and severe flash flood tragedy that struck this region in 2013, the trekking routes have changed and rebuilt.

Route Map:

Gauri Kund is the starting point for the 16-kilometer trek to Kedarnath Dham. Prior to the devastating flood, the trekking path had passed through Rambara, which had been well-developed with solid fencing and well-maintained routes. The government has now made alterations to the road leading up to Kedarnath Dham by building a new trekking track, and the old trekking trail has been completely erased.

The pilgrim must be tough and have a good level of physical fitness to complete the 16 km trekking distance that leads up to Kedarnath temple; therefore, before beginning the trekking journey, each pilgrim should get themselves properly checked out and find out if they are eligible to complete this trekking journey or not. The Kedarnath walk from Gaurikund begins at 4 a.m. and lasts until 1:30 p.m. These times are set since Kedarnath Dham is located within the Kedarnath tour wildlife sanctuary, which is why pilgrims are not permitted to travel after this hour. No pilgrims are allowed to leave after the time limit has passed. Because this hiking excursion is at a high altitude, it is recommended that pilgrims with respiratory problems visit a doctor before embarking on the expedition.

The Kedarnath trek offers a variety of amenities and services, including Palki or Doli, Kandi, and mules or ponies as different modes of transportation to the main Kedarnath Dham. These services may be booked at numerous booking booths in Gaurikund or Sonprayag. The cost of the services varies depending on the distance travelled, for example, a Palki service from Gaurikund to Kedarnath tour costs roughly Rs.4,450/-, a kandi service costs around Rs.3,350/-, and a pony voyage costs around Rs. 4,100/-.

Various proper services are offered along the hiking route in the shape of tented lodging, clean drinking water, tiny shops, restaurants, and Dhabas. Helicopter services are also available from Kedarnath’s helipad to Phata’s helipad and other locations.

Things to Keep in mind:

You should undergo a comprehensive medical checkup before embarking on the Kedarnath climb.

This trip to Kedarnath Tour is not recommended for people with respiratory difficulties or high blood pressure.

If you plan to get to the Dham by Kandi, pony, or palki, make sure you make all of your reservations in advance at the Gaurikund or Sonprayag ticket booth.

According to official regulations, pilgrims are only allowed to journey between the hours of 4 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
